When will my results be ready?

Important: We are currently working to upgrade the computer systems at our contracted laboratory. Unfortunately, during this time customers will not see an update to the sample status timeline. We will do our best to return results within our processing estimate, however, there may be a delay in returning reports to you. Additionally, processing times are estimates, and are not a guarantee that your results will be returned by a particular date. While samples are processed in the order in which they are received, some samples may require additional steps to be processed successfully, therefore extending the processing time.

Sample processing takes approximately 3-4 weeks from the time your sample is received at the lab.

In addition, you will receive email notifications at the address associated with your BIOHM account for the following processing milestones:

Quality Control. During this state we check to ensure your sample has enough fecal material on it to be process and obtain accurate results.

DNA Extraction. During this stage bacterial and fungal DNA strains are pulled out from your sample and prepared for the next steps.

PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction).  During this stage we make millions of copies of the extracted DNA strands so that we can make a more accurate measurement.

Library Preparation.  During this stage the bacterial and fungal DNA strains are prepared so they can be identified and quantified though the sequencing process.

Sequencing. This is the final stage of the sequencing process and the DNA is identified and summarized. From this data we generate your personalized report
Report Generation. In this stage we create your Microbiome Sequencing report that compares your levels of bacteria and fungi to the normal population. We also collaborate with a registered nutritionist to provide specific and actionable wellness recommendations based on the DNA sequencing data.

As soon as processing is complete, the lab will report your data to BIOHM.  We will then compute your results and make them available to you through our website. You must log in to your BIOHM account on our secure website to view your information. We do not include a printed report through the mail or email.
